Local Community Sport Networks

Introduction:

Coventry Solihull & Warwickshire Sport has been organised to take into account the opportunities that exist from alignment with the single system for sport. The proposed sport networks (CSN’s) or Community Sport Network will be integral part of this infrastructure, bringing together partners at a local level to co-ordinate planning and delivery. Discussions have taken place with all Local Authorities, with regards the creation of CSN’s, and it is likely that LSN’s will be based upon Local Authority geographical boundaries and include local agencies from the public, private and voluntary sector with a vested interest in sport and active recreation. The role and responsibility of Local Sport Networks would include:

• Acting as the local voice for sport and physical activity.
• Support and assist the CSW Sport to achieve its strategic aims and objectives.
• Coordinate the engagement and integration of sport in order to support the achievement of outcomes of the Local Strategic Partnership and as part of Local Area Agreements (LAAs).
• Support the achievement of Performance Indicators (PIs) as part of the Local Authority CPA process and the Single System for Sport including PESSCL targets.
• Successfully coordinate opportunities for sport and recreational physical activity in the local population by providing effective leadership.
• Increase the infrastructure capacity of the local professional and voluntary sector, both paid and unpaid.

The Local Sport Networks will be key components of Coventry Solihull & Warwickshire Sport Partnership, providing the critical link between the ‘strategic’ work of the partnership and delivery at a local level. Coventry Solihull & Warwickshire Sport will facilitate and support the establishment and ongoing operation of the local sport networks Future investment and interventions made by the Regional Sports Board through the Community Investment fund will support the development of this single system for sport.
