Work Experience

Unfortunately until further notice we are unable to offer any work experience placements due to having a full quota of placements at present.  When CSW Sport will be able to offer work experience placements again the website will be updated.  All the best with your work experience placements.

This page was created by Adam Talbot, Trinity RC School, Leamington Spa, who spent a 2-week Work Experience placement with CSW Sport between 22.01.07 - 02.02.07.

What work experience is about….

Work experience is an opportunity to spend 1 or 2 weeks in an everyday job of your choice. It is a chance to experience a possible career that you would like to pursue in the future, get to know more about how economy works, and to show future employers that you able to develop new skills, work hard, and keep a positive and respectful attitude.

What I did on work experience….

I had a variety of different tasks to do while on work experience at CSW Sport, but my main V Based task (in the office) was;

1. Create the new work experience web page.

Day One – Met all the staff went through all the health and safety risks. I also attended a meeting about getting disabled people more involved with sport, and making it easier for them to participate.

Day Two – Attended the CSW sport annual conference 2007.

Day Three – V based (office) work. I also did an hours tennis coaching with Phil, coaching orange mini tennis.

Day Four – V based work. I also helped out with a primary school assembly on tennis. The kids watched a video, and then we asked them questions. The ones that got them right got a sticker, and got to play over a mini net with sponge balls at the front of the assembly.

Day Five – V based work. Also did athletics coaching with year 1s and 2s using the ladder.

Day Six – Helped out at the Sportshall athletics competition for primary schools heat 1 and 2 all day. I had to score the races, and upload the data onto a laptop.

Day Seven – V based work. + helped out at Sportshall athletics competition for primary schools heat 3.

Day Eight – Took notes at the Community sport improvement network meeting in Solihull, which was about getting more kids involved with sport and volunteer work, and keeping them safe while doing sport. Spent the rest of the day in the office.

Day Nine – Helped out at Sportshall athletics competition for primary schools heat 4 and 5.

Day Ten – Wrote up the minutes from Wednesday’s meeting, and made my first round of tea and coffee.

What I learned from work experience….
